Life on the cheap, part 2
Following up on my post about bargain electronics, I have to tell you about the first of two recent discovery I made, both in the food department. If you live anywhere near Chicago proper, get over to Stanleys for all your produce. These guys make Walmart look expensive. The fruits aren’t individually named and polished like you’d find at Whole Foods, but the quality is great. Check out this shopping list:
- 5 peaches
- 2 nectarines
- 5 plums
- 3 honeydew melons
- 1 orange honeydew melon
- 1 watermelon
- 1 crenshaw melon
- 1 pint grape tomates
- 2 pints blueberries
- 2 green square baskets (pint?) strawberries
- 1/2 pint raspberries
- 8 mangoes
- 15 carrots
- 5 apples
- 1/2 lb snow peas
- 1/2 lb bean sprouts
- 1 large white onion
- 4 small fresh pineapples
- 3 grapefruits
- And finally, a veggie tray with 1 lb of ranch dressing, and 5 lbs (total) of
- baby carrots
- fresh peas-in-the-pod
- grape tomatoes
- broccoli crowns
- UPDATE: I almost forgot-
- 3 tomatoes
- 2 avocados
Now, before I actually tell you how much all this cost, I want to see at least one comment with a guess. Just add it up in your head based on what you pay at your grocery store.

Yes. You you can pick up your prize at my house. And please allow up to 12 weeks for processing.
As you can see, I almost left out a few avocados and tomatoes. Grand total for all this:
$65
See? You should come back to Chicago every weekend! You’d make up the gas money in savings at Stanleys!!!

Maybe you should try mixing mango with something else. Like mixing drugs and alcohol. But without adverse effects. You never know. Maybe it will be like flubber or something.
